Here are some photos of other interesting things to be seen at and around Maricasa.
This animal is variously called Collared Anteater, Tamandua or Ant Bear (Oso Hormiguero). It
is the size of a small dog, has enormous long claws and is sometimes seen standing up on its
hind legs and looking like a small man in a black and white suit and with enormous shoulders.
Iguanas are found everywhere in the region.
This is a large male up in a tree along the Rio
Hondo.
Orchids and bromeliads are prevalent in the
tropics and this one is growing at Maricasa.
Papayas grow easily and these are ripening here at Maricasa.
We had a bumper crop of winter squash and
these were harvested and given away to the
neighbors. We finally could not eat any more.
